MAX CAVALERA Discusses About Musical Roots, MAXIMUM CAVALERA Tour, SEPULTURA Reunion & More!

Ever since he arrived to the Heavy Music scene in 1984, Max Cavalera has been constantly reinventing mis musical craft. While it was his work with the mighty SEPULTURA that helped him become an International Metal Superstar, Max has proven through his additional work with SOULFLY and CAVALERA CONSPIRACY that his musical abilities are extremely multidimensional.

Max left SEPULTURA in 1996, following the murder of Dana Wells (Max's stepson) and the firing of Gloria Cavalera Bujnowski (Max's wife & Dana's mother) as SEPULTURA's manager. While many artists would have had a hard time starting a NEW band and making it successful, Max has proven with SOULFLY that his musical vision is what sets him apart from other artists. Get this, SOULFLY turns 15 years old this year and have eight studio albums under their musical belt!

With the release of SOULFLY's eighth studio album 'Enslaved', Max has created one of the heaviest records of his career. Thanks to his decision to add NEW members Tony Campos (ex-Static X, Prong Ministry, Posessed, Asesino) and David Kinkade (Borknagar, Arsis), SOULFLY has created a contender for album of the year! If you haven't seen the current incarnation of SOULFLY live, you must!

Recently, we met up with Max at his hotel room in New York City before the "MAXIMUM CAVALERA Tour" show at The Gramercy Theatre. Once the camera was rolling, we chatted with him about growing up in Brazil and how this influenced his musical career. We also discussed the response of the public thus far to the current killer lineup and SOULFLY's NEW album 'Enslaved'. Additionally, we discussed what it means to Max having his kids bands INCITE and LODY KONG open up the show for him and how it feels to have his brother Iggor back in his life. And of course we asked him about a potential SEPULTURA reunion and about the change in guard at his long time record label: ROADRUNNER RECORDS! Check out what Max had to say about all of this!

NILE's Karl Sanders Talks About NEW Album 'At The Gate Of Sethu' & Shredding DEAN Guitars!

The reigning kings of technical, historically-themed brutality, NILE, have announced a July 3rd release date for their upcoming studio album, 'At The Gate Of Sethu'. The follow-up to NILE’s latest state-of-the-Death-Metal-art release, 'Those Whom the Gods Detest' (2009), will once again be released via Nuclear Blast Records. Neil Kernon (Cannibal Corpse, Macabre) handled production duties for NILE’s seventh full-length.

During the bands recent tour stop in New York City with THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, SKELETONWITCH and HOUR OF PENNANCE, we had the chance to sit down and chat with NILE's own Karl Sanders. SIX FEET UNDER's Chris Barnes Talks About 'UNDEAD' & How Cannabis Aids His Musical Power!

Recently, we had the chance to chat with Death Metal screamer/legend Chris Barnes from the mighty SIX FEET UNDER about the band's forthcoming NEW full-length, 'Undead'. With an updated lineup featuring Barnes alongside guitarist Rob Arnold (ex- Chimaira), longtime guitarist Steve Swanson (ex-Massacre), bassist Jeff Hughell (ex-Brain Drill, ex-Vile), and drummer Kevin Talley (Dying Fetus, Misery Index, Chimaira), 'Undead' finds the band revitalized and spewing forth some of their most uncompromising, provocative and plainly scathing tunes of their career. 'Undead' was produced by Mark Lewis (Deicide, Devildriver), mixed by Jason Suecof (Whitechapel, Job For A Cowboy), at Audio Hammer Studios in Sanford, Florida and is scheduled for North American release on May 22, 2012 through Metal Blade Records.

In conjunction with the release of 'Undead', SIX FEET UNDER will demolish the masses on a near three-week run of live rituals this June. Dubbed the "18 Nights Of Blood Tour", the journey will begin in Atlanta, Georgia on June 8. Support will be provided by Dying Fetus and Revocation. Comments Barnes: "We want to get out there and pretty much destroy. We want to play to as many people as possible, and show all of the fans out there the new songs, and leave nothing but a trail of blood in our wake. We're hoping that whoever makes body bags are upping their output, because after this record comes out there'll be a lot of decomposing bodies out there!

AMERICAN IDOL's James Durbin Talks About Infiltrating METAL Into Mainstream Media!

JOB FOR A COWBOY will be touring in support of their brand NEW studio recording, 'Demonocracy', released in North America last week through Metal Blade Records. The intricate, Jason Suecof-produced offering tackles various political and economic themes and continues to crush the masses nationally. In a recent review Ultimate-Guitar noted of the record: "The album plays like a constant assault, and while never backing off it still manages to add enough structure for individual songs to become memorable," adding that, "the soloing is surprisingly catchy and well-executed while still managing to sit well in the context of the songs." Alternative Press calls Demonocracy "an ass-kicking, skull-cracking record," while Stereokiller agrees: "…a solid slab of some really heavy technical Death Metal. JOB FOR A COWBOY has separated themselves from former peers such as All Shall Perish and Whitechapel, and has now firmly fitted themselves with the likes of Suffocation and Dying Fetus."

In related news, the fourth in the "The Leads Are Weak" instructional video series by guitar wizard Tony Sannicandro is currently posted for your viewing pleasure. Subtitled "Getting Sexual," Sannicandro elaborates: "One of the most important things to me in soloing is good phrasing. The first half of the 'Misery Reformatory' solo is a pretty cool example of good phrasing that fits the song. It would have been easy to go to the classic E-minor and start burning like the clap, but I figured it would be better to break it down a little simpler and make it sexy. This is easy to play but it's a good lesson in outlining the solo like the curves of a beautiful broad." See for yourself!

ADRENALINE MOB's Mike Portnoy & John Moyer Discuss NEW Album At The Revolver Golden Gods

Last Wednesday April 11th, America’s only Hard Rock and Heavy Metal award show took over downtown Los Angeles! The fourth annual REVOLVER GOLDEN GODS AWARD SHOW presented by Epiphone® rocked out at Club Nokia in Downtown Los Angeles. For the first time ever, the event was broadcast live in its entirety on Xbox LIVE, as well as on the Xbox and Revolver Facebook pages.

Prior to the kick off of the awards show, we had the chance to chat with ADRENALINE MOB's Mike Portnoy and John Moyer about what the Golden Gods mean to the Heavy Music world and what is setting apart ADRENALINE MOB's NEW album 'Omertá' (available now via Elm City Records). Here is our interview with members of ADRENALINE MOB at the 2012 Revolver Golden Gods Awards.



Adrenaline Mob will be touring with Kill Devil hill in support of their Elm City Records debut 'Omertá'. The record debuted Top 5 on the Billboard Rock Album chart when it was released on March 13. The band reached #5 on the chart and also was #62 on the Billboard Top 200 selling over 6600 copies its first week. The album has been getting amazing reviews with Revolver declaring "If you dig hard-hitting modern Metal, then Adrenaline Mob's 11-track debut offers some monstrous moments." Adrenaline Mob formed in 2011 when Sonic Stomp founder Orlando, who had been working on a collection of songs, approached Symphony X vocalist Allen with a concept and idea for the band. Together they joined forces and refined those ideas. Allen then reached out to long-time friend and ex Dream Theater/Avenged Sevenfold drummer Portnoy to see if he had any interest in playing with them. Portnoy jumped on-board and from the very first note, the chemistry and sound was apparent. In late 2011, Portnoy recruited Disturbed's Moyer to fill the vacant bass slot and the beast that is known as Adrenaline Mob was born.

The fourth annual REVOLVER GOLDEN GODS AWARD SHOW presented by Epiphone® rocked out at Club Nokia in Downtown Los Angeles. For the first time ever, the event was broadcast live in its entirety on Xbox LIVE, as well as on the Xbox and Revolver Facebook pages.

Prior to the kick off of the awards show, we had the chance to chat with Dino Cazares from FEAR FACTORY abour their upcoming North American tour and their NEW album 'The Industrialist' (set to be released on June 5, 2012 via Candlelight Records).
